P Damodharan Nair
P. Damodharan Nair (Late) - (First Panchayath President)
Born in 1923 at periya and started his social life from the year 1950. the first President of Periya Panchayathu and the first President of the Pullur-Periya Panchayath. He had a tremendous record of being President of Pullur-Periya panchayathu for a continous 27 years. He was commited and contributed towards the establishment of Govt. Primary Health Centre, Govt. High school, Co-op. Bank & Vetinary hospital at Periya. He died when he was 63 years old.
Wife: Lakshmi Amma Children: Balachandran, Venugopalan, Damodharan, Narayani, Nandakumar, Ambika, Geetha.
Chindan Nambiar
Chindan Nambiar, Vayaravalli (Late)
A noted political, social and cultural worker of Periya in its early years. He had been jailed while working for Communist Party's establishment in this place. He was involved in Karshaka Samaram, protest against Land lords and Nelleduppu Samaram and thus got jailed. Chindan Nambiar known as the right-hand of Late E.K. Nayanar while he was in his exile. He worked hard for social and communal welfare of the village.

K. Kunhikannan
K. Kunhikkannan
Born in 1935 at Kundakarmoola. Since 1950, he has been an active social worker untill this time. He has been leading many committees and welfare associations. President of the Panchayath during 1995-2000. He was a member of CPI(M) Area Committee for 10 years and were holding many other positions within the party and in the community. Some of his key positions are: senior member of Karshakasangham, CPI(M) Local committees, Periya Co-op bank Director, Director of Pallikkara Pothuvitharana Kendram. In the past, he had participated in many karshaka samaram and protests againts landlords.

P. Gangadharan Nair

P. Gangadharan Nair (DCC President)
Born in 15th December 1942, Periya's contribution to Kasaragod district's political leadership. He has been serving many positions inside and outside the village. A few of them are: Long-term Panchayath President (Pullur-Periya), President of Periya Co-op Bank, President of Agriculture Development Board Kasaragod. He was an executive member of old Kannur district Youth Congress. Currently, President of Kasaragod District Congress (DCC). Supporting all the development activities in the village and panchayathu.
Wife: Malathy, Children: Sheeja, Ramya and Dhanya.

A Shekharan Nair
A. Shekharan Nair (Late) 1943-2005
Born in 1943, scored top marks in the 10th standard (first batch) exam at Periya Govt High school in 1960. He started his political career in 1989 with Karshaka Sangham and became the member of Communist Party of India (Marxist) in 1975. He was elected as District Panchayat Member in 2000-05. He has been serving positions such as Kanhangad Area Secretary of Karshaka Sangham, Kanhangad Area Committee member and Local Committee secretary of CPI (M). As a district panchayath member, with the help of district panchayath he contributed maximum infrastructure development for Periya village including educational institutions, roads, community irrigation projects and agricultural sectors. He passed away on 18th October 2005, after serving about a week as the President of Pullur-Periya Panchayath.
Wife: Sarada, Children: Jayakumar and Jayakala.
P. Narayani
P. Narayani (Block Panchayath Member - 2005)
Born in 1949 in a labour family. From beedi worker to the First Lady of the Panchayath. She served a few positions such as an area committe member of Janadhipathya Mahila Association, CPI(M) local committee member. Participated in many labour protest and march. Served as Panchayath President from 2000-2005. Currently elected as member of Block Panchayth from Ajanur. Husband: Muthu; Children: Rajan and Jayan .

Damodharan Master
P. Damodharan Nair - (Teacher)
Born in 17th March 1931. A well known mathematics teacher who had approached the profession in a creative manner. Master started his teaching profession in 1957 by joining Durga High School, Kanhangad and then moved to Board High School Trikaripur as a Mathematics Teacher. He got appointed as a non-gazetted Head Master in 1962 in Periya School. In 1977 master was promoted as Gazetted HM in Bandadukka Govt. High School. Later on he joined as HM in Periya Govt. High School in 1982. After long years of successful teaching life, master retired from the service in 31st March, 1986 from G.H.S Periya.

Vijayan Panicker
Vijayan Panicker - (Theyyam Artist)
By his hardwork and dedication to the theyyam art, Vijayan Panicker got into the history and the minds of many pious people around this place. This theyyam artist has been performing this art for the last 40 years. He started at the age of 12, by the blessings and directions of Raman Meengunnavar who was an essential part of theyyam in the utsavam and ottakkolam. Vijayan Panikkar had been awarded Pattum Valayum 36 years ago (just 4 years after he started to perfom theyyam) from a thampuran from Chirakkal Kovilakam and he got a sthanam as Panikkar. His specialities are Vishnumoorthy, Rakteswary, Gulikan, Chamundi, Kuttichatan etc. According to him; theyyam art is a combination of music, litreature, dance and expression.

Vannan_Kannan

Kannan Peruvannan (Late) - (Theyyam Artist)
He was a prominent Theyyam artist in this part of the district who entered in this art when he was just 12 or 13 years. He was such a talented artist who could perform theyyam for 8 - 10 hours without any lose of quality art. His specialities are Pulkandam theyyam, Pulluraali etc. and he was the only artist who could perform these theyyakolam in the early 1935 till 1986. The theyyam named Kandanar Kelan made him popular among the other artists. He was against performing the theyyam on the stage who was well known for his Vaal veesal skills.
